The Journey of organic aum

organic aum was born in 2018 in Beech Mountain, Queensland, Australia.
Honoring the quiet beauty of wabi-sabi, the spirit of Zen, and the stillness found in Japanese culture, we have offered experiences that help people “return to their true self” and remember the oneness of all things. With the trust of many clients and the support of skilled therapists, the space naturally grew into countless moments of depth and richness.

In 2025, the wisdom of natural therapies and alternative healing cultivated in Australia met the quiet restorative energy of Akiu, Sendai. Through this meeting, organic aum stepped into a new stage in Japan.

Origin of the Name

The name organic aum is a coined word combining “A-un” and “Om.”
“A-un” symbolizes beginnings and endings, breath, and cosmic harmony.
“Om,” the sacred Sanskrit sound, calms the mind and guides one into deep meditation.
Uniting these two intentions, the name expresses the wish to create “a harmonious place where one returns to their true nature.”

The Place — Akiu

Akiu is an ancient hot spring village where rich nature and timeless history flow together.
Just 30 minutes from central Sendai, it offers a quiet atmosphere where the sense of time gently softens.

Light shifting with the seasons, wind, birdsong, the murmur of the river, the whisper of trees—
the natural rhythm unique to this land gently brings balance to both mind and body.

The Philosophy of the Space

Amethyst, rose quartz, and clear quartz crystals are carefully embedded in the land, harmonizing with the light, wind, and seasonal scents.
The round white dome, free of corners, is designed to soften sound and light.

Here, breath and heartbeat naturally merge with stillness, inviting you into a deep sense of being held by the earth itself.
It is a place where one is gently guided back to center and reconnects with their own inner rhythm.
This is the essence of organic aum.

The Experience

Founder’s Story — Satoko Branston

As a child, I was physically fragile and often relied on herbal and Western medicine.
A book on breathing techniques I encountered in high school became a major turning point—it opened my awareness to the deep connection between mind and body and became the foundation of my inner journey.

My twenties brought several experiences in which the inner, spiritual world supported me, and during pregnancy at age thirty, I shifted to a lifestyle rooted in natural therapies. Through motherhood and exposure to various educational philosophies, including Steiner education, my understanding of “living in harmony” deepened within daily life.

Growing up with a delicate constitution taught me the importance of self-healing and balancing mind, body, and everyday life, which became the roots of my work as a therapist.

After the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake, I moved abroad. In New Zealand, I met a respected healing mentor and deepened my path of self-healing. I later moved to Australia, obtained the national qualification Diploma of Remedial Massage, and began full-scale practice as a therapist—eventually offering treatments to over 10,000 clients.

In 2025, I returned to Japan to create a place where the wisdom of natural therapy meets the healing energy of Akiu’s land—this new beginning is organic aum.
